The British Orthopaedic Directors Society (BODS) was founded in 2004. The society is a forum for clinical directors of trauma and orthopaedics in the four countries of the United Kingdom. All clinical directors in the UK are eligible for membership. The society has a president and an elected committee.

The society is not part of the British Orthopaedic Association but it has a very close working relationship with the BOA. The president of the society attends the BOA Council and a member is nominated to the professional practice committee of the BOA. The society has a representative on the orthopaedic subcommittee of the BMA consultants committee.
